The internet was created as a resource for storing and retrieving information but initially this was just a one way communication with users only able to view pages. This has changed with church websites now able to become busy interactive sites through the use of features such as discussion boards.
Forms are one great way for websites to gather information from site visitors as they can be completed and submitted online. The most popular use of forms are for ‘Contact Us’ pages which allows a site visitor to enter their details in the web form (see our contact page as an example).
On submitting the form the contents will be emailed to a nominated address such as the church office.
Forms don’t have to just be a text box, but could also be multiple choice questions such as ‘What would you like more information on?’ - see the example on the right.
Your church website could use forms in a range of different ways such as :
Course sign up - are you running an event such as an alpha course? – why not get people to register their details online
Small group attendance/ feedback - group leaders could complete an online form to record attendance of a small group which would then be emailed to the church office on completion
Questionnaires - do you want to run a questionnaire in your community? Why not use an online form to create a range of questions giving another opportunity for people to make contact with the church
Forms are much quicker to complete than printed material and because they are online they are also free as well.
With Church Edit, forms can be created easily by going to the page manager and selected ‘Add Form’ next to your chosen field. As well as having completed forms emailed to a nominated address, the details are also stored in the online control panel.
